Boulder Races for 2012

I didn’t run as many races as I wanted to this year, due to the wedding and honeymoon planning. But I’m proud to say I shave off about 2:30 minutes from my first 5k in 2009.
2012: Boulder Marathon 5 Mile, BolderBoulder 10k, Turkey Trot 5k

On top of Green Mountain, my 5 Mile race in early spring and Jack and I at the BolderBoulder.

While I didn’t run many races, I did a lot of hiking with Jack. Some were pretty tough, which left me sore for days but it was worth it! I also took up a weekly spin class at my local gym. It’s a great way to sweat first thing in the morning and push yourself to the max.

Turket Trot 5k with Jack

In 2013 I plan on running twice as many races, including my first half marathon, and getting some PR’s under my belt. I’ll keep you posted!

Well it’s been forever since my last post! Life has been busy lately, here’s an update:

Got married – April 21, 2012!

On our amazing honeymoon in Riviera Maya, MX.

The last few months have been amazing and I’m so happy to be married to my best friend. Now that everything has settled down, I’ll be posting on a regular basis.

Friday – 4.2 mi (41:29) around Twin Lakes.

Sunday: 7 mi (1:14) at Teller Farms.

I’ve noticed I’m pretty consistent with my runs, it’s nice to keep track and compare each time.

Sunday: 7 mi (1:13) at Teller Farms. Cool, crisp morning with views of the hot air balloons throughout my run.

Race Update

My first 10k was a success! The weather was perfect- nice and sunny but not too hot. I ran a solid race in 55:42, right around the time I predicted. The route started at Boulder Reservoir and continued down Niwot Road, which is a dirt road. There were a few hills, but the race was pretty easy overall.

I’m really proud of my performance and can’t wait to start training for my next race!

Afterwards, Jack and I grabbed some free grub and watched the first round of marathoners finish.

Well tomorrow is my first 10k race! The Boulder Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k is on Labor Day and I’m really looking forward to it. I know I’ve physically and mentally prepared myself, now I just need to go run. It should be a blast, I’ll post the results soon and let you know how it went.
